Inspired by the words of Haitian artist and philosopher, Frankétienne, this panel brings together Haitian filmmakers in a discussion about their filmmaking processes, representation and autonomy and the influence of Haitian art, culture and tradition on their work. Moderated by Toni Pressley-Sanon, author and Associate Professor of Africology and African American Studies at Eastern Michigan University, panelists include Shirley Bruno (director of Tezen and An Excavation of Us), Guetty Felin (director of Ayiti Mon Amour), Jimmy Jean-Louis (lead actor in Toussaint Louverture) and Raynald Leconte (director of In the Eye of the Spiral and Real Maravilloso).
